Meet The Team

Scott Whitaker

Scott currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Lumen. His prior experience includes transactional wholesale brokerage as well as wholesale program operations, serving as President of his two prior firms. He has extensive experience in managing carrier relationships, structuring reinsurance facilities to support programs, and development of successful distribution strategies. He holds a BBA in Finance and an MBA from Baylor University and currently resides in Dallas, TX.

Matt Austin

Matt serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Lumen. He brings 15 years of commercial insurance experience in financial and operations management - including brokerage management, underwriting, claims, and reinsurance. Matt holds a BBA from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. He currently resides in Dallas, TX.

Peter Boynton

Peter has more than 11 years of experience in insurance and currently serves as Senior Vice President of Underwriting for Lumen. He began his career on the wholesale side working in transactional brokerage. He quickly developed a deep level of expertise in non-admitted real estate classes and served as a senior underwriter for a nationally syndicated real estate facility. Peter’s unique expertise and insights in the commercial property world, as well as his distribution relationships make him an invaluable asset as Lumen launches into the programs space. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and currently resides in Dallas, TX.

The WHY for Peter:

“There is an overwhelming opportunity to take things to the next level in the insurance space. I want to help build a company that doesn’t sacrifice service and relationships for the sake of technology and innovation, but is equally committed to both. I want to be a part of a team with like-minded goals and I look forward to establishing Lumen as an agent of change in the marketplace.”

Jared Wilkin

Jared serves as Chief Technology Officer and brings more than 17 years of broad technology experience to Lumen, both as a full stack software engineer and engineering manager. His experience in application development and business processes makes him uniquely qualified to drive the innovation that sets Lumen apart in the commercial insurance space. Jared holds a Computer Engineering degree from the University of Washington and recently earned an MBA from WGU. He currently resides just outside of Dallas, TX.
